𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥, 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧,involves several sub-skills, such as working with the data source process, cleaning up data, combining data, and data transformations. Understanding how to work with different data sources, cleaning data by removing duplicates, dealing with blank or error values, filling in missing values, combining different data sets, and transforming data to fit the analysis are all essential aspects of data preparation.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥, 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, involves four key areas: statistical analysis, functional analysis, ad hoc analysis, and experimental analysis. Statistical analysis entails understanding basic statistics such as mean, median, and mode, as well as more complicated concepts like skewness. Functional analysis involves understanding industry-specific analysis techniques, while ad hoc analysis involves being able to analyze data quickly and efficiently. Experimental analysis involves designing experiments and analyzing the results to make informed decisions.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥, 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠, involves creating data analysis outputs, graphs, and presentations for others. Charting, dashboard creation, and presentation skills are important in telling compelling and concise stories with data. Persuasion skills are also necessary as a data analyst because the insights must be sold to stakeholders, clients, managers, or shareholders.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥, 𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, involves understanding what questions to ask to get the right information for analysis. Being curious, asking open-ended questions, and challenging assumptions are all key aspects of this skill.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥, 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲, involves understanding how to use the tools and technologies necessary for data analysis. Proficiency in software such as Excel, Python, R, and SQL is essential for data analysts. Additionally, familiarity with data visualization tools, machine learning algorithms, and big data technologies is becoming increasingly important.
